The Premier Squash League (PSL) will make a comeback this month, with Air-IT Nottingham’s PSL team facing a tough opening match away against current champions, and local arch rivals Benz Bavarian Duffield on Tuesday 6th October.

Last season Air-IT Nottingham narrowly missed out on a play-off place for their second year running. Despite winning 7 of their 10 games, more than any other team bar winners Duffield, they lost out at the last game of the season and fell short by just 9 points.

Player Manager Mark Fuller comments: “This will be my seventh year playing for the Air-IT Nottingham PSL team and my third as manager. I’m really excited about this coming season and hope to take the team all the way.”

Nottingham based Managed IT and Communications provider Air-IT return for their third consecutive year as headline sponsor along with fellow shirt sponsors Fantasy Squash, Skills Motor Coaches, Smith Cooper, Managed Business Communications and The Walton Hotel.

Other sponsors getting behind the team are Fast Graphics, Threerooms, All About Tourism, High Growth, Rex Gooding, RBS, Softcode Solutions, CEMA Group, Training for Business, MIES Building Services and Daisy.

Air-IT’s Managing Director Todd McQuilkin comments: “Over the past two seasons we’ve been proud to lead a fantastic group of sponsors who together have helped secure the future of the team and we’re thrilled to continue in this role. As a Nottingham-based business we’re proud to support our local sporting community, so it’s an absolute pleasure to sponsor this hugely talented team of mostly home-grown players.”

And their support really strikes a chord with Player Manager Fuller:

“My chosen team strikes a unique note in the PSL as it consists almost entirely of home-grown, Nottingham-based talent,” explains Mark. “The squad are fast becoming hot property in the squash world and we’re proud to field a local team who are rising up through the world rankings.”

SH21677The Air-IT squad is largely unchanged this season and includes: Emma Beddoes (WR 11 Ladies) who went undefeated in all PSL matches last season, Alan Clyne (Scottish number 1 and WR 28), Eddie Charlton (Team Captain and WR 53), Chris Fuller (WR 117), Mark Fuller (Player/Manager WR 142), Lewis Walters (WR 120), Ollie Holland (WR 282) and newcomer Hana Ramadan (WR 81) – a student at the University of Nottingham who joins the team following her recent move from Egypt to the UK.

SH21676The team will be tested by a number of opposing world-class players, including: Nick Matthew (WR2), Simon Rosner (WR7), Steve Coppinger (WR14 Men’s), Daryl Selby (WR 17 Men’s), Laura Massaro (WR5 Ladies) and Sarah-Jane Perry (WR 15 Ladies) to name a few.

Fuller adds: “We don’t have the big names some of the other sides have but you can be rest assured that our players will fight tooth and nail to win every match. With the fantastic home support of Fortress Nottingham behind us we have every chance of making it third time lucky!”

The opening match will be played at the Duffield Squash and Racketball Club, before Nottingham’s first home game at Nottingham Squash Rackets Club (NSRC) on Tuesday 27th October vs Pontefract. The team will also face fixtures against Coolhurst who reached the playoffs last season and Birmingham and Leicester, all scheduled to be played before Christmas.
